Quality Standards Support Project

Quality Standards Support Project

ALDP mission statement is to work with people affected by problem substance use and the organisations that assist them. We do this to reduce harm to individuals and society, and to provide opportunities for development of those individuals and organisations.

Supported by the HSE and the NICDTF as part of action 45 of the National Drug Strategy 2009-2016, the aim of the ALDP Quality Standards Support Project (QSSP) is to develop and promote quality standards for addiction services; and to support organisations in implementing quality standards in their own services. The project is supported by one full-time project worker and a steering committee, whose membership is made up of representatives from ALDP, North Inner City Drug and Alcohol Task Force, HSE National Social Inclusion Office, HSE DML Addiction Service and Dublin Region Homeless Executive.

Among the resources and supports offered by the QSSP are

QuADS Organisational Standards Manual
Quality Champions Training, the aim of which is to provide key persons in organisations with the skills to become a quality champion in their     service.

Community Detoxification Initiative

Community Detoxification Initiative

ALDP mission statement is to work with people affected by problem substance use and the organisations that assist them. We do this to reduce harm to individuals and society, and to provide opportunities for development of those individuals and organisations.

Community Detoxification supports service users to reduce or stop their use of opioids or benzodiazepines through an organized process involving key workers and prescribing doctors within their community.  It can be accessed as an alternative option to in-patient residential detoxification, or as a necessary step toward meeting entry requirements for residential treatment.

The Community Detox Initiative is supported by the Community Detox National Representative and overseen by  an expert steering committee who are leaders in addiction services from medical, community/voluntary and research fields.

A short video guide for service users thinking about a community detox and the community detox protocols are available on the Community Detox Initiative online space at http://www.drugs.ie/resources/community_detox/

For further information on community detox, please email Nicki Killeen (Community Detoxification National Representative) on nicki.killeen@aldp.ie or call 01 9603010 / 086 1091683
